Ellansé®Collagen Inducing Dermal Fillers
As we age we lose volume in our face due to a combination of bone reabsorption and loss of collagen and elastin within our skin.
Collagen and elastin are key components in our skin and is crucial to maintain the elasticity, firmness and suppleness of our skin, as we age we have a marked decrease in our natural production which can leave us looking tired and older than our age.
This is why Ellansé is such a game-changer as it naturally works on restarting and maintain your own collagen production!
What is Ellansé and how does it work?
Ellansé® is a non-hyaluronic acid filler. It is injected into the skin to lift, sculpt and restore lost volume associated with skin ageing and it works differently to other dermal fillers due to its unique properties. It not only corrects lines and folds but uses the body’s natural response to stimulate the formation of your own collagen which aims to really treat the underlying causes of facial ageing. The effects are gradual and longer-lasting, giving you a natural and youthful appearance.
Its principal component is Poly-Caprolactone (PCL) microspheres – a bio-resorbable soft medical polymer. The PCL is suspended in a gel carrier made of carboxymethylcellulose (CMC).
When injected into the skin, Ellansé reverses skin ageing with a 2-step process:
The CMC gel gives immediate lifting and sculpting results. However, the gel only lasts for about 12 weeks.
At the same time, the PCL microspheres begin to stimulate your skin to produce collagen. The collagen stimulation peaks at 12 weeks to give the final result.
When will I see the results and how long does Ellansé last for?
Your result will be seen immediately but will continue to improve over the first 12 weeks and range between 1-4 years depending on which product used.
The Ellansé range contains 4 products and the most appropriate one for your needs will be discussed during your consultation.
Ellansé S 1- 1.5 year
Ellansé M 2-2.5 years
Ellansé L 3-3.5 years
Ellansé E 4-4.4 years
What areas can be treated with Ellansé?
Ellansé is very versatile. It is hard enough to sculpt facial features such as the chin and nose, yet mouldable enough to restore volume to the forehead. Ellansé can be used to treat most areas which hyaluronic acid (HA) fillers can treat, including the:
Temples and Brow area
Lower Face, Marionette lines
How many treatment sessions will I need?
With Ellansé, you will only need one session to see an immediate and long-lasting correction. This allows Ellansé to be a very cost-effective treatment bringing you excellent value for money.
Is the procedure painful?
Ellanse is generally a very well-tolerated treatment. The product is mixed with lidocaine which is an anaesthetic and injected using a combination of ultrafine needles and a blunt microcannula resulting in minimal discomfort.
How long will the treatment take?
A typical treatment is between 30-60 minutes depending on how many areas are treated.
Is there any downtime for Ellansé treatment?
Most people can return to work as normal following the treatment.
Are there any side effects?
As with any injectable treatment, you may experience localised redness, swelling or bruising. You may have slight swelling and tenderness for a few days following your treatment. In rarer instances, swelling may remain longer. Bruising is also a possibility due to the face being so vascular, however, this risk will be minimised by using a blunt cannula instead of a sharp needle in higher risk areas. Most bruises are minor and can be covered with makeup.
This list is not exhaustive and will be discussed in full with you during your consultation.
Whilst it is not expected, it is possible that reactions described may persist for longer than expected and may inhibit your confidence to attend work or social events. You are advised to schedule treatment with this in mind, allowing time for common reactions to settle.
What should I do following the treatment?
Avoid touching the injected areas and refrain from vigorous exercise and extremes of temperatures for the first 24 hours.
Avoid taking ibuprofen and consume alcohol for the first 24-72 hours as this can increase your risk of bruising.
